Guest Commentary: Understanding Snuffy

[Paul W. Davis wrote to me about my latest Snuffy Pfleger post, and gave me permission to share his thoughts through WarOnGuns--DC]

A bit of history is in order here. With regard to Snuffy Pfleger's on-going campaign, we ought to understand that is has always been the Catholic Church's position that they are to be the predominate influence in government. Unfortunately, virtually all the Protestant denominations hold the same view. It was only in this country, and after the Revolution that the Baptist (who are not Protestant) doctrines of Liberty of the Conscience and the invalidity of the State church took hold and thus coercion of belief and the government funding and support of churches were effectively banned.

What Snuffy is doing is with the blessing of the Catholic Church, otherwise he would have been stopped after the first time he did it. We must remember that this is the same Catholic Church that supports illegal immigration, and has supported the Jesuit "liberation theology" that was nothing more than Marxism fronted by Catholic religion.

Please remember that the Dark Ages took place when the Catholic Church was at the height of its power and influence. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Catholic Church would very much like to regain that position in the world. Guess who stands in the way of that?

Remember, the Catholic Church, like the Communists and Fascists, were and are able to keep their populations subjugated by three primary means:

1. Ignorance
2. Illiteracy
3. Disarmament of private citizens.

Ignorance means that the people have no knowledge that there is a LORD God that calls everyone into accountability (including the Pope). If people know that, they refuse to blindly obey and decide for themselves how they ought to obey God.

Illiteracy means that the people cannot read and write and thus are disempowered to learn better. The Catholic Church maintained its charade by banning the reading of the Scriptures. The Communists maintain the charade by banning all writings contrary to Marxism (of which the Bible is primary). Do you remember reading about the book burnings of the Nazis? The reason these folks do this is because their doctrine (belief) cannot stand the light of day and the scrutiny of people who will settle for nothing less than the truth. Remember, when you dissect what they believe you will find that the emperor has no clothes. They cannot stand that as people will turn against them.

Disarmament means that, failing the other two methods, they can kill everyone who will not conform -- with impunity, just like they have done for centuries.

I own guns for two primary reasons:

1. As an American citizen it is my birthright. Giving up one's birthright for no good reason is not smart as Easu demonstrates. Yes, my birthright is not equal to the one Easu gave up, but it is nonetheless a decent and good birthright. Why should I give it up?

2. I cannot find anywhere in the Scripture where the ownership and peaceful carry of any weapon is expressly forbidden. I can find many places where men of God carried weapons and God blessed them. I also find places where, due to specific circumstances, the LORD forbade the carrying of a weapon, but not generally. What I am told is that I am not to put my trust in my guns, or in myself, but in the LORD God. But this has always been true, no matter the time in history. I find that the LORD used the weapons of King David's mighty men to accomplish great feats in battle, but they trusted in the LORD God for what they were able to accomplish -- not in the weapons they carried.

I have a third reason (not so primary) for owning guns -- I simply like and enjoy them. I have very few things that I enjoy, and owning and using the guns the LORD allows me to have is one of them.

All things considered, why should I give them up?

Again, why should anyone listen to the likes of Snuffy Pfleger? If we know our history, we can discern with some certainty what he and his ilk are after -- and it is not good.

In Christ,

Paul W. Davis
