Obama Meets With Key National Security Advisers

WASHINGTON: Senator Barack Obama met Wednesday with a high-profile group of national security advisers and said that the next president should move the country "in a new direction, by sending a clear signal to the rest of the world that we are no longer about bluster and unilateralism and ideology."

But with the economy remaining a central issue in the presidential campaign, he declined to say whether he expected - if elected Nov. 4 - to have any role in the world financial summit meeting to be held 11 days later in Washington, saying, "We have one president at a time."

Obama said he had convened the meeting with advisers largely to focus on the financial crisis, but also to discuss Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia and other areas of concern.

Obama's comments came after a meeting with his advisers, including former Secretaries of State Richard Holbrooke and Madeleine Albright.

My Comment: From looking at those who showed up ..... it appears that we are going to have a return of former President Clinton's foreign and intelligence team of the 1990s. Secretaries of State Richard Holbrooke and Madeleine Albright being two of the main advisors who were present.
