RAMALLAH, West Bank, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Banks in the Gaza Strip face a severe shortage of bank notes, threatening Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's ability to pay government salaries next month, the top Palestinian bank regulator said.
Palestinian, Egyptian and Jordanian banks in the Gaza Strip have faced similar shortages in the past because of Israeli restrictions on cash transfers to the Hamas-ruled territory.
