Moscow Election Protest Draws Thousands -- Wall Street Journal

About 6,000 people, mostly in their 20s and 30s, were braving cold rain at a protest rally in central Moscow Monday against what they said was a fraudulent parliamentary election the previous day.

The rally at one of Moscow tree-lined boulevards was the largest in years. Russia’s opposition has for years only been able to attract relatively small numbers of protesters to its events, treated with suspicion by Moscow’s burgeoning middle class.

However, the day after the elections—which saw the victory of Vladimir Putin’s ruling United Russia party amid what international observers called irregularities in the election process—thousands of Moscovites, organizing themselves with the help of social networks like Twitter or Facebook, came to voice their protest against what they called “a stollen vote.”

For the past two days, heated debates on the vote have been bursting all over the Russian Internet.

My Comment:
The Russian side of the internet is abuzz with this election .... and everyone that I am reading is detailing voting irregularities, ballot box stuffing, and voter intimidation. As to what is perturbing me .... the Communists got 20% of the vote .... an unbelievable percentage in view of Communism's horrid history in Russia.
