I got this follow-up from activist Steve Dergarabetian :
We sent hundreds of emails throughout the day urging the council members to vote against it. We went to the City Council meeting. The subject of the ordinance came up around 7:30 PM. The city attorney advised the mayor that he recieved an email from Chuck Michel, the NRA's attorney, of a lawsuit if this ordinance passed. The mayor wanted to postpone the vote, but Councilman Yousefian insisting on voting & killing the deal once and for all. At that point, the other 3 voiced their support for the 2nd Amendment and how they gave an oath to the Constitution when they were elected.
So basically, it went down 4 to 1 and we won. The motion was withdrawn forever (until next time at least).
By the way, there is a show at Glendale this coming Saturday & Sunday.
You can access individual webpages for the council, including their email addresses, by clicking here. A note of appreciation to the council members for their correct vote--and particularly to Mr. Yousefian for taking point on this-- would not be out of order. Mayor Manoukian might also benefit from some insights from freedom-minded people...
