Mission Statement

I am the editor and co-founder of BookYards, a free online library and education portal that was started a few weeks after 911. Our Wikipedia entry is here.

We founded the library because we believed that it will only be through education and the free flow of information that will overcome the culture and mind-set that led to 911. This is a point of view that has only strengthened with time, and is now our main focus.

One of the benefits that have come to me from the BookYards project, is that over time I developed a database of military/intelligence/security information that would have only been a dream five years ago. This access to information has also made me realize that the information and news that we are receiving on Iraq, Afghanistan, the War on Terror, and on all the wars and conflicts that are occurring around the globe ...... are either fragmentary, inaccurate, terribly bias, or (worse) following a certain agenda.

For the past five years I have been pushed by my colleagues to start this blog as a way to organize this jungle of information, to sort out the propaganda from the real "facts on the ground" . I have always declined because of the workload that I am under, and the priorities that have always preoccupied my time.

I also know that I do not know everything. That I also have my own biases and prejudices. That if anything, I would probably be the wrong person to do such a blog. My education, experience, and background makes me the "least competent" person to do this.

But even though I feel like this, I also strongly believe that I have something to contribute ..... and that in the end I may help to direct the debate in a positive matter.

This blog will be an aggregator on the news and information that concerns the many wars that we are presently involved in, the conflicts that are evolving, and the opinions and commentary from experts and specialists on these matters.

And sometimes ..... I will have my own two bits to contribute to the discussion.
