Sudan President Declares Darfur Ceasefire -- The Telegraph

Sudan's president has declared a unilateral ceasefire in the war-torn region of Darfur.

President Omar al-Bashir, who is accused by International Criminal Court prosecutors of crimes against humanity, announced an immediate cessation of military activity in the three provinces of the western Sudanese region.

At least 300,000 people have been killed in five years of conflict in the western province, according to international rights organisations, and more than two million displaced, many of them living in dire conditions in vast refugee camps across the border in Chad.
