WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The State Department's third-ranking official will meet Russia's foreign minister on Wednesday, becoming the most senior U.S. diplomat to visit Moscow since its August war with Georgia, a U.S. official said on Tuesday.
William Burns, undersecretary of state for political affairs and a former ambassador to Russia, will see Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss "the whole gamut of relations," said a senior U.S. official.
U.S.-Russian relations hit a post-Cold War low when Russian forces crushed U.S. ally Georgia last summer. Relations are also strained because of U.S. plans to install an anti-missile system in eastern Europe, not far from Russia's borders.

My Comment: I do not expect much from these talks. The Russians are waiting for President Obama.
