DefenseAlert, Nov. 19, 2008 -- A Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle is credited with saving the lives of two U.S. Army generals in Iraq after a driver operating a vehicle packed with an estimated 800 pounds of explosives detonated the suicide payload, destroying all but the protective armor capsule of the MRAP designed to cocoon passengers from roadside bombs.
