Sri Lanka: Scores Of Rebels Killed In North, Govt Claims

Colombo, 7 Nov. (AKI) - Scores of rebels have been killed in Sri Lanka's northern Wanni region as government forces increase pressure on separatist Tamil militants, the Defence Ministry said Friday.

The ministry said the militants had been killed and many others were wounded in Thursday's fighting west of Mankulam, near the rebel political headquarters at Kilinochchi.
