KABUL, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Three U.S. soldiers were killed as their vehicle struck a roadside bomb Friday in southern Afghan province of Zabul where the operation of international troops has left five civilians dead, officials said.
Ghulam Jailani Khan, the provincial police chief, told Xinhua that it occurred at 11 a.m. local time when the armored vehicle of international troops was hit by roadside mines planted by Taliban militants in advance, killing three foreign soldiers.
Earlier, a statement released by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the slain of three NATO soldiers in southern Afghanistan on Friday.
