Sunday Morning: Former CIA Agent Says U.S. Must Take Pragmatic Approach To Tehran And Its Ambitions For Empire
(CBS) With all the straws in the wind about a new U.S. approach toward Iran, a former spy's experiences in that country may be just what our new administration needs to hear. Our Cover Story is reported by Kimberly Dozier:Where do old spies go to retire? Robert Baer came to Berkeley, California.
For 21 years Baer was one of the CIA's top undercover agents. In fact, so was his wife, Dayna.
"This is a really nice suburban setting," Dozier told them. "I'm having trouble picturing you both [as] spies."
"Yeah, we were," Bob Baer said. "We met in Sarajevo. We were in counter-terrorism."
While Bob did the spying, Dayna was his "shooter," watching over him with a loaded gun in case of trouble.
