Hamas Leader Announces 'Agreement On Long-Term Truce With Israel' -- The Telegraph

A senior Hamas leader has said that an Egyptian-mediated truce with Israel over the Gaza Strip would be announced within 48 hours, the official Egyptian news agency reported on Thursday.

Moussa Abu Marzouk said the truce, which would last for 18 months, would ensure the opening of commercial crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, according to a report on Mena.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said the Israeli government would not comment on the report and it was unclear whether Israel had already agreed to the truce.

Egypt has been trying to mediate a truce deal between Hamas and Israel to solidify the cease-fire that ended Israel's 22-day offensive in Gaza in mid-January.
