Gen. Kevin Chilton, the head of U.S. Strategic Command, received a fair amount of press for his warning yesterday of the risk of cyber attack against the United States. But his appearance before the House Armed Services Committee's strategic forces panel also put the spotlight on nuclear weaponry.
In his testimony, Chilton made a pitch for the Reliable Replacement Warhead, a next-gen nuke design that would use fewer exotic materials and incorporate new safety features:

My Comment: In the end this is going to be President Obama's call. If his past remarks are anything to go on .... he will probably delay any movement towards modernizing and upgrading America's nuclear forces. Unfortunately for us, both Russia and China are going the opposite direction.
