Rasmussen: 57% Support War With North Korea

The eye-brow raising story of the day is likely to be this poll published by Scott Rasmussen, which finds that 57% of American favor a military action against North Korea, ostensibly in response to their ballistic missile test over the weekend. Past the sensationalist headline, however, the finding is quite dubious. The most obvious red flag is the claim that 75% of respondents are following the North Korean issue "closely," with 40% claiming to be following it very closely. As Rob Farley writes, if you believe that, I've got a tea party to sell you. But more fundamentally, in keeping with a grand Rasmussen tradition in regards to issue polling, the question asked doesn't really tailor itself to the situation very well. My Comment: I doubt that a majority of the American people want to go to war against North Korea. I think it is more of a reflection of the deep sense of frustration among many who are not comfortable nor confident with the direction that we as a nation are going.
