An al-Qaeda sleeper agent has admitted providing support to the September 11 plotters in a move which has boosted hopes of prosecuting senior terrorist figures held at Guantanamo Bay.
Ali al-Marri, who was the last remaining "enemy combatant" held on US soil, faces up to 15 years in jail after admitting he conspired to provide material support to al-Qaeda.
Marri, a joint Saudi-Qatari national with legal residence in Peoria, Illinois, admitted attending several terrorist training camps in Pakistan from 1998 to 2001.
