
There's encouraging news from Southeast Asia in the world-wide fight against terrorism. Mas Selamat Kastari is back in jail.
Singapore authorities believe Mr. Kastari is the head of the local branch of the regional terror group Jemaah Islamiyah, an al Qaeda affiliate. He appeared on intelligence radar screens in 2001, when he is alleged to have plotted to hijack a plane in Bangkok and crash it into Singapore's Changi Airport. Terror expert Ken Conboy tells us that Mr. Kastari also planned to bomb an international school in the city-state. He trained in Afghanistan and was one of JI's most capable operatives.
