BAGHDAD, June 20 -- A suicide bomber driving a truck loaded with explosives killed dozens of people Saturday afternoon near Kirkuk, Iraqi officials said.
The blast in the northern Iraqi city, the deadliest in weeks, shattered a recent lull in violence.
The bomber targeted a residential area called Taza, which is roughly 14 miles south of Kirkuk. The majority of residents in the area are Shiite Turkmen.
Officials at the scene said at least 32 people were killed and 105 wounded in the blast. Dozens of homes were destroyed.
