How Robot Drones Revolutionized The Face Of Warfare

From CNN:

(CNN) -- Barely an hour's drive from the casinos of Las Vegas, a group of unassuming buildings have become as important as the trenches were to WWI. The big difference? Today's warriors are fighting without getting in harm's way, using drones to attack targets in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Major Morgan Andrews is one such combatant. He kisses his wife goodbye, drives to Creech, a tiny desert air force base in Nevada, and within minutes could be killing insurgents on the other side of the world.

My Comment: How can you fight an enemy that has no fear. Ignoring the tactical opportunities and the ability to operate 24/7, drones and its robotic cousins are revolutionizing the battlefield by presenting an element of the "ultimate" warrior. In combat, it is only a small fraction of soldiers who are not "fearful" of the consequences of combat .... they do their job, an it is they who usually have the greatest impact when engaging with the enemy.

Robots have no fear of being shot at or "killed" .... as machines they have taken out that emotional element which inhibits soldiers from doing operations because of the consequences of being killed or wounded. For example .... a helicopter pilot will hesitate to fly low in a dangerous environment because of his fear of being shot down. The only fear that a drone pilot will have will be from his commanding officer who would be displeased with him losing a drone due to enemy fire.
