U.S. Issues $50 Million Bounty On Cartel Kingpins -- Houston Chronicle

The U.S. government increased the pressure on Mexico's infamous Gulf Cartel today by offering a reward of up to $50 million for the capture of 10 ranking members of the drug-trafficking syndicate.

The reward, announced in Washington, includes four leaders who were specially designated as kingpins.

“These indictments allege a stunning and sophisticated operation … to move illegal drugs into our communities and cash back to Mexico,” Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer said in a prepared statement.
