Security And Defense: Hitting Hamas Where It Hurts -- Jerusalem Post

On the surface, there is not really anything in common between Al Capone and Hamas. One is a famous Chicago gangster; the other is a lethal terrorist organization that is responsible for thousands of deadly attacks against Israel in recent years.

What the two have in common though is the method used by authorities to bring them down. The FBI could not find sufficient evidence to indict Capone for racketeering, and in the end he was convicted on charges of income-tax evasion.

My Comment: There is a lesson to be learned here when it comes to tackling terror groups or extremist organizations. That lesson is that they all need money.

Unfortunately, we in the West do not take this lesson seriously. On the one hand we criticize Saudi Arabia for not being strict on charities and money transfers to suspect terror fronts, on the other hand we donate hundreds of millions of dollars to Gaza Aid groups that are mostly infiltrated by Hamas militants and their commanders. In short .... we are paying them a salary to plot terror attacks.

As long as we keep up with this contradictory policy, we can never make seriously headway against groups like Al Qaeda, Hamas, and the dozens of others who promote terror attacks against us and our allies.

Update: Hamas is not the only group that needs money .... Seizures Show Somalia Rebels Need Money.
