North Korea Wanted Only Bill Clinton for Mission to Free Women -- Bloomberg
Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Sometime in mid-July, North Korean leader Kim Jong Il revealed his terms for the freedom of two American women he held as prisoners: Send Bill Clinton.
So it was that after 20 hours on the ground in Pyongyang, the former president landed in Burbank, California, yesterday to deliver Euna Lee and Laura Ling back home.
“Euna and I would just like to express our deepest gratitude to President Clinton and his wonderful, amazing -- not to mention super-cool -- team,” Ling, 32, told family, supporters and reporters on hand for their arrival.
