U.S. Government Document Lays Out Afghanistan Strategy

What's the U.S. strategy for Afghanistan? This sensitive but unclassified document, "United States government integrated civilian-military campaign plan for support to Afghanistan," dated August 10, and signed by U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry and Gen. Stanley McChrystal, commander of U.S. forces Afghanistan, seeks to define it.

"The U.S. broad strategic goal in Afghanistan is to disrupt, dismantle, and eventually defeat Al-Qaeda (AQ), its allies and its safe havens in Pakistan, and to prevent their return to Pakistan or Afghanistan," the paper says.

My Comment: I read this document last night. When finished, I felt like Adolf Hitler in the Bunker. My aides are outlining great strategies and ideas on how to win the war .... but when one looks at the map the "real" resources to win are just not there.

The resources from the State department are simply not there to participate in the fight in Afghanistan.
