The Japanese government is expected to publicly confirm an until-recently secret agreement that allowed U.S. military vessels and aircraft equipped with nuclear weapons to make stops at the island country, Kyodo News reported Saturday.
While conducting an internal review, the Japanese Foreign Ministry came upon records that the two nations had come to a nuclear agreement. The agency is expected to share the results of its review in early 2010, sources said.

My Comment: I cannot say that this news surprises me (or anyone else for that matter) .... but what is surprising is trying to understand the motivation of the Japanese Government and why they are doing this right now. Indeed ..... why now.
