Did The Army Ignore Red Flags Because of Hasan's Religion? -- Time Magazine
As officials continue to investigate the alleged Fort Hood killer, it is looking increasingly likely that the Army missed several red flags in Major Nidal Malik Hasan's behavior. Many observers say it wouldn't be surprising if such signals had been missed, given that Hasan was a psychiatrist whom the Army desperately needed to help tend to the mental wounds of two wars. But at the same time, some members of the military are quietly discussing the more troubling possibility that the Army might have looked the other way precisely because Hasan was Muslim.

My Comment: I do not know if he acted alone, but Major Hasan certainly tried his best to contact Al Qaeda commanders and their leaders. Information is also (now) coming out that many of his colleagues were concerned about his behavior, and they were vocal in their concerns to their superioirs.
But nothing was done .... when something clearly had to be done.
But while this news is bad .... it gets worse.
The information that is now being leaked and reported by the press makes it clear that a complete intelligenc failure on the part of the military has occurred .... that intelligence agnecies were aware of Major Hasan's outreach to Al Qaeda extremists, but decided to do nothing about it.
Talk about dereliction of duty.
The U.S. commanders and leaders who refused to act on this information must be outed and named. People must be held accountable .... and fired.
In addition ... a complete review must now be conducted to find out if there are more Maj. Hasan's in the military. We must also ask the following (disturbing) question .... has our military been infiltrated by radical Islamists and their supporters .... and is there a fifth column in our intelligence agencies.
Answers have to be found ..... and found fast.
