With no one really knowing what an F-35 will cost or when it will be delivered or if it will be delivered in fighting form, Lockheed Martin has to look at how to fill the void of potential lost profits. The U.S. has to look at how to ensure future security agreements through weapons sales.
It might be time to brush off this old paper that is a study on what it takes to export the F-22. While Gates and crew have been against the F-22, their alternative of standing by a seriously troubled F-35 program has little credibility.
