Ex-British Army Officer Guilty Of Afghanistan Corruption -- The Telegraph

A former British Army officer has been sentenced to two years in Afghanistan's most notorious prison after he was found guilty on corruption charges that had been championed by President Hamid Karzai's government.

Bill Shaw, a director of the global security firm G4S, was imprisoned for two years and fined $25,000 (£16,300) after being convicted of bribing Afghan intelligence officers for the release of two impounded armoured cars.

The ex-Royal Military Police officer was one of the first to face charges at the Anti-Corruption Tribunal, a body only set up under British pressure at the start of this year and bankrolled by the UK taxpayer.

My Comment:
The irony in this case is too sweet to pass up. If there was ever a symbol of our deteriorating relationship with Karzai .... this is it. I expect blowback and a further deterioration in Afghan - NATO relations as a result of this case.
