Iraqi officials have blamed militants linked to al-Qaida for a series of attacks across Iraq Monday that killed at least 110 people in the country's worst day of violence this year.
There has been no official claim of responsibility for the bombings and shootings in nine Iraqi cities and towns that also wounded hundreds of people.
Iraq's Deputy Interior Minister Hussein Ali Kamal acknowledged Tuesday that lapses by Iraqi security forces may have contributed to the carnage.
