Chinese Deal With Pakistan Hems Obama -- Washington Times

Key countries to U.S. buck nuclear nonproliferation.

China's decision to sell nuclear reactors to Pakistan, which has not signed the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), is posing a challenge to the Obama administration's commitment to curb the spread of nuclear technology.

Analysts see in the administration's muted response a reluctance to press China at the risk of losing its support for sanctions on Iran and a hesitation to upset a delicate relationship with Pakistan, which the U.S. views as a key ally in the war against al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Russia Warns U.S. Against Unilateral Iran Sanctions -- Yahoo News/Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the United States and other Western nations on Thursday against imposing unilateral sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, Interfax news agency reported.

The European Union has said it may impose unilateral sanctions if a U.N. Security Council resolution fails.

U.S. President Barack Obama's administration has been lobbying Western companies not to do business with Iran, but has not imposed sanctions against them.

My Comment: In this confusing world coupled with Russian threats over sanctions against Iran, we then get the U.S. response to all of this .... U.S. Revives Nuclear Energy Pact With Russia, Citing Cooperation On Iran.

A part of me is crying .... another part is laughing at the "political schizophrenia" of it all.
