Officials: Investigators Probe Possible Foreign Ties To Times Sq. Terror Plot -- Politico

The White House on Monday described Saturday’s failed car bomb attempt in New York City’s Times Square as an attempted act of terrorism, as U.S. officials suggested the plot may have had foreign links.

“I think anybody that has the type of material that they had in a car in Times Square, I would say that that was intended to terrorize,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said at the Monday press briefing. “Absolutely. And I would say that whoever did that would be categorized as a terrorist."

Gibbs said the administration is still investigation who’s responsible.
