Sudan Official Calls For Delay Of Southern Referendum -- Voice of America

Sudan's defense minister has called for a delay in holding a referendum on whether the country's south becomes an independent country.

This is the first time a senior member of Sudan's ruling National Congress Party has publicly called for postponement of the referendum, now scheduled for January 9.
