President Obama Arrives In Indonesia -- Politico
JAKARTA – Barack Obama finally returned to Indonesia, where he briefly lived as a child, on Tuesday, marking a long-awaited homecoming to a country that takes a particular pride in his rise to the presidency.
But, after two cancelled visits this year, his much-anticipated return will be cut short due to an ash cloud that’s expected to move in as a result of the erupting Mount Merapi Volcano. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the White House hopes Obama will still be able to deliver his planned speech to the Muslim world while in Jakarta, but suggested that the president may have to cut out his tour of the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest in South Asia, before flying to Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday.
