RIVER GUARD - A U.S. Army soldier stands guard along a river that runs through the village of Hazara Qala, Afghanistan, Feb. 1, 2011. The soldier is assigned to the 10th Mountain Division's 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery battery. Liam Fox yesterday delivered a stinging rebuke to Germany and Italy for failing to pull their weight in Afghanistan.
The Defence Secretary took the extraordinary step of naming and shaming Britain's European allies for not playing their part in the war against the Taliban.
He blasted the two countries for refusing to fully support the Nato mission by neglecting to pay for extra helicopters.
