Britain's ability to fight wars such as those in Iraq and Afghanistan will be threatened within a decade unless ministers put more cash into defence, the head of the Army warned yesterday.
In a thinly-veiled appeal for recent defence cuts to be reversed, General Sir Peter Wall said the Army would ‘require a real-terms growth [in spending] in the latter part of the decade’ – or face serious decline.
