President Barack Obama is set for a clash with the top U.S. and Nato commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, when he announces tomorrow a drive to bring thousands of American troops home beginning next month.

The President will move the United States a step closer to ending the war in Afghanistan by signalling the withdrawal of a rumoured 10,000 troops - a much swifter reduction than preferred by Petraeus.

My Comment: He may object, but I doubt that he will be resigning his post as the new Director of the CIA on this issue.
