New Anti-Deficit Plan From The 'Gang Of Six' Will "Gut The US Militrary"

Rep. McKeon: ‘Gang of Six’ Plan Would Gut Defense -- Wall Street Journal

The bipartisan ‘Gang of Six’ deficit-reduction plan is getting a thumbs-down from one of Capitol Hill’s top defense hawks.
Rep. Howard McKeon (R., Calif.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, sent a memorandum to Republican committee members today warning that he would not support the plan, saying that the proposal would cut too much defense and security spending.

“Based on what we’ve read, the proposal would result in $886 billion in security cuts over 10 years,” Rep. McKeon wrote. “Due to a firewall in the proposal between security and domestic spending, nearly half of the discretionary savings in this proposal comes from security programs.”

As currently outlined, “I cannot support the Gang of Six proposal,” he added.
