Navy Develops New Combat Ships Amid Ongoing Criticism -- Stars and Stripes

While the future of the Littoral Combat Ship program remains unclear, the Navy and its industrial partners have been testing the first two such ships, Defense News reported.



Over the past year, USS Freedom and USS Independence have been developed as prototypes for future littoral ships despite ongoing debate in Washington, the newspaper reported.
