The Ministry of Defence have denied reports that the Army could make 2,500 wounded soldiers redundant in cost-cutting procedures.

According to a leaked memo, seen by the Daily Telegraph, the Armed Forces plan to double the number of lay-offs previously announced, claiming the wounded would not be exempt, the newspaper said.

But a spokesperson for the MoD said in a statement: ‘The information in the leaked Army memo from a junior officer is incorrect.
