Closing Road During Remembrance Services Infringes Drivers' 'Human Rights' -- The Telegraph

A request to close a busy road to mark a two minute silence during the forthcoming Remembrance services was refused by police as it would infringe motorists' “human rights”, the British Legion claimed.

For nearly 90 years, officers have helped the organisation hold the brief services in peace, by stopping traffic near the junction in Stockbridge, Hants.

But last year police refused for the first time and only backed down following intervention by the local Conservative MP, Caroline Nokes.

Despite officials being told the row would “never happen” again, Hampshire police last week refused the request, saying it breached the “human rights” of motorists.

My Comment: After 90 years they think of this cockamamie excuse .... shameful does not even close to describing this behavior.
