Carlos The Jackal Trial Begins With A Smile And Raised Fist From Terrorist -- The Telegraph

Carlos the Jackal, the world's most infamous terrorist of the 1970s and 1980s, began his trial in typically defiant fashion on Monday: with a smile and a raised fist.

Standing in a bulletproof glass cage in a special terrorist Paris Assizes court, the Marxist-Leninist radical was accused of four bomb attacks in France that killed 11 and injured 150.

When asked to describe his profession, the once dreaded public enemy, whose real name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, stroked his thinning white beard and responded: "I'm a professional revolutionary."
