This Day in History: December 27

The legislative committee of inquiry expressed the opinion that if Lovell had "been furnished with all the men ordered for the service or been properly supported by the Commodore, he would probably have reduced the enemy"; and added that the naval commanders in the service of the state "behaved like brave, experienced, good officers throughout the whole expedition."
