Syrian Troops Massacred In Biggest Attack Of The Uprising -- The Telegraph

Syrian rebels have killed 27 regime troops in the biggest single attack of the uprising against the regime of President Bashir al-Assad.

Activists based abroad said that attacks on three separate checkpoints in the southern province of Deraa had killed 27 members of the army and other security "agents".

Along with a series of clashes which killed scores of civilians and armed men on both sides this week in Idlib in the north and Hama and Homs in central Syria, the fighting demonstrates the extent to which the uprising, which began with peaceful protests in Deraa in March, is now turning into open warfare.
