Arab Nations Are Starting To Supply Syrian Rebels With Weapons

Sources: Arab Nations Arming Syrian Opposition -- CNN

(CNN) -- The outlook for the underequipped members of the Syrian opposition appeared to have grown less bleak Thursday on the eve of a Friends of Syria meeting in Tunis, the cradle of the Arab Spring movement.

Diplomatic sources told CNN that a number of Arab nations are supplying arms to the Syrian opposition. The sources wouldn't identify which countries.

In London, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton predicted the opposition will find willing sources to supply them with munitions to counter the Syrian government onslaught blamed for thousands of deaths since last March.

My Comment: If true, it is not hard to figure out who is supplying these rebels .... my guess .... the same countries that supplied the Libyan rebels in their successful overthrow of Gaddafi (i.e. the Gulf states, supporters in Egypt, and probably Turkey). Interestingly .... the above interview with General Dempsey was done last week and it gives no support to the idea of supplying the rebels. This tells me one of two things .... the General did not know then that the rebels were being supplied by external players, or events are moving so quickly now that what he said last week is no longer valid today.
