Turkey Aims To Damp Drone-Report Furor -- Wall Street JournalISTANBUL—Turkish drones were responsible for the initial intelligence footage that prompted a deadly strike against civilian smugglers, Turkey's armed forces said Thursday, seeking to damp a furor sparked by a Wall Street Journal article that described the role played by a U.S. drone.
Turkey's General Staff said in a written statement that Turkish-language reports, which cited a Wednesday article in the Journal, were "not based on the truth."
Quoting a Pentagon after-action report, the Journal said a U.S. Predator drone spotted a group of men and pack animals and passed the footage to Turkey's military. The Turks identified the convoy as Kurdish militant fighters and took the decision to strike using jets from its air force.

My Comment: I understand why the Turkish government is keeping this quiet .... it reveals a very close military relationship with the U.S. .... a relationship that for it's own reasons wants to keep secret.
