US Cuts $33 Million In Aid To Pakistan Over Osama bin Laden Doctor Sentence -- The Telegraph
The US is to cut $33 million from the aid it sends Pakistan over the jailing of the doctor who helped the CIA hunt for Osama bin Laden, in a fresh blow to the battered relations between the two states.
Congressmen on the powerful Senate appropriations committee voted to cut $1 million from the $800 million annual budget for each of the 33 years that Dr Shakeel Afridi has been told he must serve in jail for working with a foreign intelligence agency.
Dr Afridi set up a fake vaccination campaign in Abbottabad in an attempt to obtain blood samples from bin Laden's family, as the CIA tried to confirm the al-Qaeda chief's presence in a nearby villa.

My Comment: This is just another example of Pakistan being clueless on how angry the U.S. has been with Pakistan on only not being serious in looking for Bin laden when he was hiding in their country .... but now on how they are handling the man who helped the CIA in finding Bin Laden. Throw in the fact that Pakistan is providing safe havens for the Taliban, cutting off NATO supply routes, as well as pursuing a nuclear weapons program far and above what they need .... it should then not be a surprise to see Congress make the decision to cut their aid. My only contention with this decision is that considering how Pakistan is not behaving as an ally .... they should cut-off most (if not all) of the remaining $800 million in aid.
