The three-star general leading the Afghanistan training mission allegedly ignored reports of rancid conditions and corruption at a U.S.-funded Afghan military hospital because it came too close to the general election.
Col Mark Fassl claims he asked for an investigation into the the state of an 'Auschwitz-like' hospital but was forced to withdraw his request by Lt Gen William Caldwell.
Fassl, who was inspector general for the training command, made his claims to a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee panel on Tuesday.

My Comment: Cannot get this story out of mind. Talk about exercising horrible judgement .... and a Lt. General to boot who has seen past top 4-star generals being fired (i.e. Gen. Stanley McChrystal) for less. If these allegations are true .... Lt Gen William Caldwell should resign immediately.
