Many In GOP Voted For Forced Budget Cuts Before Being Against Them -- McClatchy News

WASHINGTON — Republican congressional leaders are backing away from a trigger system of forced spending cuts that they hailed 13 months ago as a herald of fiscal discipline and for which GOP lawmakers voted by large margins.

Obama, in turn, is accusing the Republicans of flip-flopping by rejecting strong budget controls they once championed.

My Comment: I not going to argue about tax cuts and rising deficits ....I live in Quebec (Canada), and this province has consistently raised taxes over the years .... and guess what .... they always got less than they had expected. As I always like to say .... it is not because we are not taxed enough that we have deficits .... it is because government cannot control their spending.

Having said that .... this blog and many others who cover these developments raised our red flags last year when sequestration was passed .... warning that a budget crisis will result .... specifically on the military. Guess what .... that budget crisis is happening right now. Politicians always love to dump problems on future generations, and sequestration was just one more example of this mindset. Unfortunately for all of us .... this crisis needs to be addressed right now .... but .... I predict .... sequestration will be postponed for another 6-12 months .... and then maybe .... just maybe .... it will probably be delayed again. But one day that cliff will be in front of us .... and delays will just not work.
