New Brunswick, December 7, 1776 — British and Hessian troops occupied this town and the surrounding countryside today and lost little time looting homes, assaulting women and arresting anyone suspected of aiding the rebel cause.Also, happy birthday to my father, who turned 21 on this day in 1941, and went on to serve with the United States Marines at, among other places, Guam.
