Gun advocates predict drop in crime if gun ban is lifted [More]Yeah, you'll see some results trending in a positive direction when peaceable people can protect themselves. But I wouldn't expect any miracles, as a good part of the violence is taking place among a population that won't see its prohibited status affected one way or another. And McDonald won't do a thing as far as legalized carry is concerned:
At issue are Chicago’s laws (1) banning the registration of handguns, thus effecting a broad handgun ban; (2) requiring that guns be registered prior to their acquisition by Chicago residents, which is not always feasible; (3) mandating that guns be re-registered on an annual basis, including the payment of what amounts to an annual tax on the exercise of Second Amendment rights; and (4) rendering any gun permanently nonregisterable if its registration lapses.I listed some resources where you can learn more about this case in yesterday's Gun Rights Examiner column.
But if anyone is expecting the Windy City is going to turn into Kumbaya Land, there's a frequent quote I use here that sums up my sentiments about the "Hog Butcher for the World."
Forget it Jake, it's Chi-Town.
