Pakistan And U.S. Meet On Missile Strikes

UNITED NATIONS, New York: In one of a series of high-level private meetings at the United Nations, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan pressed the U.S. secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, to ease up on U.S. strikes targeting militants linked to the Taliban and Al Qaeda in the lawless Afghan-Pakistani tribal regions.

"These drone attacks are unproductive, and they are contributing to alienation as opposed to winning people over," the Pakistani foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said in an interview Wednesday.

Qureshi spoke after briefing Pakistani journalists on what he described as Zardari's 20-minute meeting with Rice and another private gathering of Zardari, President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

My Comment: Pakistan's President (who is losing control of his country), meeting a U.S. Secretary of State (who will be unemployed from the State Department in two months), on what to do about the war on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Hint ..... nothing is going to be decided.
